Sterling Silver Tie Bar from Mexico-Reimagine as Bookmark or Moneyclip
Great vintage Sterling Silver tie bar from Mexico. Marked Mexico ( without the “I”) and silver. Note the differences in the spacings between the stamps which is also indicative of being hand stamped.
Measures 2 3/4” long by 3/8” wide and weighs 11 grams.
Tie bars were common from the 1920s through 1960s. The stamping on the back supports that this piece was made before 1948 as after that time, all Mexican silver jewelry began to have an Eagle mark. Prior to that most was stamped either sterling or silver.
This piece has a sturdy end and while you may not have any use for a tie bar, it would be an excellent money clip or book mark as well.
